/>

Your family has it’s own unique traditions, silly or serious but still your tradition, you stand out and do things just a little different. Traditions are the glue that forms memories and holds your family together as a unit. Today, with much uncertainty in the world, and the economy forcing changes, traditions may also change, but the memories linger on. The followings are some traditions shared by others.

One lady shared that when the weather starts changing she starts making large batches of beef stew and chicken noodle soup and freezes them in dinner size portions so that during the holidays when time gets scarce she defrost whatever she needs.

Another shared that their family tradition is to have the elegant big Christmas meal on Christmas eve so that they can leisurely enjoy Christmas day. Munching on leftovers, consisting of cold turkey, home made breads, and desserts has become their Christmas day tradition.

Creativity inspired a young mother to use glitter to write each child’s name on a glass ornament with the year and use as a place card at their Christmas dinner turned into a tradition that provided ornaments that were carried into the children’s own homes as adults.

A busy mother with several children turned the necessity of spending quality time with her children instead of in the kitchen doing dishes into a tradition when she started using special holiday patterned paper plates, napkins and tablecloth for family get gatherings during the holiday.

Another utilized Santa stocking to hide not little presents but to fill with Christmas breakfast goodies to snack on during the opening of presents ! This creative mother filled her children’s stockings with boxes of juice, fruit, nuts and rolls, with each family member’s favorite as a gift from Santa That way all could enjoy the time around the tree on Christmas morning.

All during the Christmas season for school and work lunches this creative mother shared with us she packs lunch in a pretty holiday colored sack, folds down the top and uses a hole puncher to create a spot to stick a candy cane through to secure the closing of the bag. Whatever you do, have fun, keep the spirit of giving from the heart.

Spectrum Resources provides counseling in debt, credit and home ownership. It’s not what you make, it’s what you do with what you make, that…..is what makes the difference. The holidays can be special by making it special with your own tradition.

Call (863) 967-0660 or email:SpectrumResources@tampabay.rr.com and visit all our blogs http://MoneySavingTips.PolkVoice.com & Back when they were knocking on merchants doors soliciting their participation in this new marketing idea to expand merchant's clientele. The 3 progressive articles bring you to an era that is recognized and felt by many across the globe, the invention of the DEBT CARD ! Of course, by design this little product is really in place to take advantage of the banking industry’s real money maker – OVERDRAFT FEES !

Introduced to the consumer as a ‘convenience’, you no longer had to tug around that huge monster the ‘check register’, you could simply take out the little card that is conveniently tucked away and swipe just like a credit card, but you ‘assumed’ like your checks, if there was no money, the debit card didn’t work, you THOUGHT you were safe and probably saving money. However, in creative marketing, once bankers got you hooked on the convenience they switched the deal and once again provided you with another ‘convenience’ called 'override protection'.

This time, when you used the debit card, even if there was no money in your checking account, the card cleared, and you conveniently were able to take your merchandise home. However, in the mail the following month were OVERDRAFT FEES ! Yes, there is a price for convenience. There are no free rides, especially when you get close to any product that is promoted by banks, so why are you so surprised when you open the mail that carries your monthly statements ?

$24 BILLION dollars in 2008 was the cost to consumers for the ‘convenience’ of using the debit card ! The bankers knew when they introduced the debit card, that people would not take the responsibility for their decisions. They knew they had a ‘natural resource’ of funding and by reaping $24 Billion dollars in one year, I see they were right. Bankers struck the 'mother load' without lifting a shovel !

One suggestion as a preventive cure to overdraft fees is to put your debit card under a large paper clip INSIDE your check register. Take it out and use it, then write in the check register your purchase amount, and put the debit card back under the large paper clip and NOT someplace else in your purse or pocket !

The absolute best way to save money and prevent overdraft fees is to go on a CASH diet ! It's not crazy and in some far reaches of our nation there are people who still use CASH. That’s it – cold turkey – use ONLY CASH ! Don’t give into that ‘convenience’ of the auto deposit, auto debit, debit cards and the total cashless system. It is designed to take advantage of your human weakness. The cashless society that has evolved is totally detached from the realities of their money making decisions, that is until the bills come in. Consumers no longer see their assets physically deplete.

Be strong, take control of your money. Know when the total you have shrinks, and why. You didn’t expect that your large company would be experiencing cut backs or totally closing. The realities of today’s economy has hit good reliable trained employees right where it hurts the most – in the pocket book.

Or you may be one of the many people, who during the years of the ‘housing boom’ moved up with the purchase of a new home. Or you may be one of the many who got the ‘flippin’ bug’ after attending a HOW TO Real Estate seminar and purchased some ‘investment’ properties.

Whichever scenario that got you where you are today, you have discovered your budget no longer fits the current scenario. You maybe feeling the squeeze, or may have already missed a house payment or two. Don’t wait until it’s too late to contact a counselor to find out what your options are. The faster you ask for help, the more options you will have !

You ALWAYS have options that can help, but the quicker you take positive action, the greater the odds of having positive outcomes. Seek professional help to learn about resources that can give you more time and even more options. A counselor will help you structure a plan based upon whatever money that you do have so you can get maximum use of it. A counselor will introduce you to trusted resources that have proven to get the end result you are seeking.

There are consumer laws such as TILA, and HOEPA in place to protect your rights. The federal Truth In Lending Act requires lenders to provide detailed information about credit transactions to borrowers. TILA also imposes liability on lenders when they fail to provide the information accurately or in the form required. The liability for a lender’s mistakes can pass through to the assignee, making the purchaser of the mortgage loan liable for mistakes by others.

Statutory liability under TILA when discovered through a mortgage audit, can give you power to negotiate terms that you can live comfortable with. It also can be used to claim actual damages, statutory damages, and attorney fees, compensating you for the lender’s infractions of the law.

These infractions either through TILA and/or HOEPA could assist you in stopping the foreclosure, and keeping your home. Also through being compensated for damages, you maybe able to regain financially some ground you had lost.

Call Spectrum Resources (863) 967-0660 Email: SpectrumResources@tampabay.rr.comPlease visit all our blogs, each different: http://MoneySavingTips.PolkVoice.com
http://SpectrumResources.wordpress.com & http://WomanToWomanMagazine.ning.com
http://FinancialEducationAndOptions.blogspot.com  and

Visit some of our trusted resources: To raise your credit score in 75 Days – Guaranteed ! http://CreditJusticeServices.com/?ccc=1242 For a HOME PACK which includes Foreclosure Defense Attorneys, Mortgage Forensic Audit, and Money Managing Software with full support visit: www.OneCaboodle.com

“Credit Cards – Consider The Differences” Lessons In Debt, Credit And Home Ownership

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 220px; height: 123px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8exiNzwR3mU/SvXKxT1gJ9I/AAAAAAAAAFE/jVl2Woc97d8/s320/What+Is+A+Credit+Card.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401446276587857874" />

As a trained and experienced credit risk assessment planner, when counseling with families I am always amazed how few people ever shop and compare credit cards when deciding upon entering a world designed to keep you on the hook for a minimum of 25 years.

People shop houses and give serious consideration to a 30 year loan. People shop cars and give serious consideration to a 10-15 year loan. But people DO NOT research the one thing that does the most damage to relationships, lives and cost the most in interest, the credit card !

Not all credit cards are the same, nor do they all treat their customers the same. And like wicked step parents, they certainly do not discipline their customers the same for late payments or other random acts of misconduct.

Good credit cards aren’t necessarily easy to find, especially these days. And the big boys in the industry may not offer them at all. If you would search the internet for ‘ credit card guide’ or 'credit card ratings’ or ‘comparison of credit cards’. You will be able to shop and compare to see which would actually be best for your lifestyle personal spending habits.

To protect yourself, it is essential to research the offers, conditions and terms. Remember: “The big print giveth, and the small print taketh away !” The best way to avoid traps is to pay your balance in full every month. However, it is wise to know the terms just in case you get into the position where you are not able to pay the full amount.

• You should watch out for rates that go up for no reason, the new law will help slow this down, but you still need to watch for it.
• The “Universal Default” is not your friend. For example, because you are late on your car insurance, they raise the interest rate on your credit card. Yes, I know, there is no connection, but through “Universal Default” credit cards can get by with it.
• Know exactly what fees are in store for you in case you default in any way.
• Know exactly what your grace period is, and understand they change things without notice.
• Know the ‘default rate’ which they will bump you to for the smallest infraction. And it isn’t cheap.

17 out of 22 credit card companies surveyed (77%) say they change terms at ANY TIME for ANY REASON ! July 2010, the game rules will change, many to your benefit. Remember the credit card companies know exactly what to charge for ignorance !

Spectrum Resources has counseled for over 7 years families trying to live inside their income. Who would ever think that today, seeking advice from a credit risk assessment planner would be seen as a sign of being very wise ?

Remember when you could apply for loans and be treated like a king, and when the mail box was packed with credit card offers ? Now you need to have a high 700 score to be recognized as a MAYBE contender for a loan.

Today, unemployment is rising, and it’s the employer’s choice marketplace. Now if you have even a slight blemish on your credit report, you are told to move to the back of the line.

Today, if your house payment is too high sucking up most of your income and you want to refinance, but with a credit score that shows any infractions you would have a better chance sprouting wings and flying over the tree tops than getting a loan.

What is in it for you is that a credit risk assessment planner offers education that will empower you to make decisions that are more beneficial and options that increase the opportunities in achieving goals.

What is in it for you is that a credit risk assessment planner offers a ‘plan’ to prevent clients from experiencing future disasters such as foreclosure, drowning credit scores, late fees, raising interest rates, and the wrath of malicious third party creditors who slink out from their rocks.

What is in it for you is that a credit risk assessment planner offers professionalism. A trained counselor who specializes in credit, debt and home ownership, has access to the latest laws, actions and reactions in the credit industry. Also to your benefit, a counselor researches options and resources that will save you time, money and trouble.

Spectrum Resources (863) 967-0660 Email: SpectrumResources@tampabay.rr.com
Visit all our blogs, each one offering different lessons that will benefit you. The housing industry hasn’t hit bottom yet, and is expected to continue dropping for at least the next two years. All of this is not news, however, there is also a growing awareness of the bank fraudulent acts and how home owners can defend themselves. Read on to learn which resources are necessary to help stay in a foreclosed home, and with the right legal defense team can also get compensated for damages.

Forensic auditing is absolutely a must conducted by a professional third party specialist who works directly with knowledgeable mortgage fraud defense attorneys. The key is knowing what the fraudulent acts are and most importantly how to defend the home owner against them using all the governing Federal laws in place to protect the consumer. This evidence is golden to a mortgage defense attorney and to you as a victim because the Federal laws are very specific about the damages you can claim as a victim.

A forensic audit examines all the paper work that came out of your purchase and closing documents. It’s a clerical search for math errors, and it’s also a search for the strict Federal laws governing mortgage and protecting consumer rights.

Spectrum Resources has invested over five years of research in an attempt to provide education to home owners, however, like many things, there are some people who has the ability to surround all of this legal mumble jumble and those could but don’t want to. They are the “Just Fix It !” people and count for many of the clients who turn to a ‘package deal’ of services. Spectrum Resources can help with resources that make a positive difference.

The most important thing is to establish a plan and stick with it. Find out which resources offer what options. Defining priorities and setting time limits on achieving certain goals. Foreclosure is a floater, meaning many things depend upon other people’s actions and reaction, therefore a home owner has to have clear goals yet be very flexible.

Spectrum Resources offers education and options and does not get paid from trusted referrals. Recently we discovered a program that offers experienced mortgage defense attorneys, a forensic audit services supported by a team of attorneys, and a money management software to make better use of whatever money they do have.

Call Spectrum Resources (863)967-0660 Email: SpectrumResources@tampabay.rr.com
Please visit all of our blogs for different lessons. But sometimes, these good deals can actually cause people to spend more than they would have otherwise. NOW is the time to use coupons, compare grocery store ad papers BEFORE going out, and ALWAYS make a list and stick to the list! To save money savory the following tasty treats !
• Limit Four Per Person: Scarcity can have a powerful impact on shoppers. A buying restriction can tempt people to buy more than they need, which could cause items to either spoil or sit in your pantry for a long time. Tip: In the long run, when you factor in the amount of products that spoil or are eventually thrown away, you will usually be better off financially if you only buy the amount you reasonably need and can use.
• End of Aisle or Freestanding Displays: Often the "specials" displayed on the end caps of each aisle or on an island display aren't really the best deals that the store currently offers. These displays may also lead to impulse buys that you weren't intending to make. For instance, a display with graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows could make you think, "I'll make s'mores for dessert." Tip: While the location of these items is convenient, especially during busy shopping hours, you should only buy these items if they really are good deals.
• Buy One, Get One Free: While these deals can make you feel like you are getting something for half price, if the cost is more than that of a similar item...or if you don't need a large quantity...than this may be one special worth passing on. Tip: Ask the manager if you can buy one item for half the price instead of buy one get one free. While stores don't always advertise this alternative, they often allow it.
• Pre-Sliced Produce: While pre-sliced produce can feel like an easy choice, it can cost twice as much as whole produce, and can spoil faster than whole produce. Tip: Pay extra for prepared meals and produce only if the time and effort they save you is significant and really worth it.
• Don’t Eat What You Like – Eat What Is In Season and On Sale: Be different, and try new foods which are in season or on sale. Ask your grocery manager for his calendar of dates he normally runs his specials, and ask to meat the butcher to ask his advice for seasonal savings. For more great grocery shopping tips, visit www.supermarketguru.com. Stretch your imagination and your pantry by buying new foods, experience new taste, and new saving techniques.

Call Spectrum Resources (863) 967-0660 for counseling in debt, credit and home ownership issues or Email: SpectrumResources@tampabay.rr.com Visit our other blogs: http://SpectrumResources.wordpress.com and http://WomanToWomanMagazine.ning.com and http://MoneySavingTips.wordpress.com and http://FinancialEducationAndOPtions.blogspot.com

“OPTIONS = Key To Making Changes !” Lessons In Credit, Debt, And Home Ownership

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 250px; height: 166px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8exiNzwR3mU/StpKwskaPjI/AAAAAAAAAEk/doI6s2uHKxI/s320/2195b.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393705704187641394" />

You know the word ‘OPTIONS’ is just another word for change, and you also know the more options you have the easier it is to make good qualified decisions which create better outcomes in the changes that occur. But as a credit risk assessment planner, I see people appear to concentrate more on their problem than searching for options that bring positive solutions. Following are some options you may want to consider.

The name Spectrum Resources by design is to deliver to people seeking financial self- sufficiency a ‘SPRECTRUM’ (variety) of ‘RESOURCES’ (services-people-options that help). The needs are growing, and there are some wonderful resources that have come to answer the needs. However, there are also some really bad people who see the opportunity to take advantage of people in their time of need. Just as we advice our clients to set down and make a list, we too, set down and seriously consider the people, their services and their objectives before we refer any of our clients to them as possible options.

It’s a given, there are no free rides, and the world evolves on profitability. However, as in all decisions pertaining to money, as responsible consumers there must always be consideration given to the value for the money spent, and what the ROI = return on investment is to us personally. Spectrum Resources has two resources proven to offer exceptional value. One that has proven itself over the years with excellent customer service, with average results of credit scores raised 50 to 100 points is Credit Justice Services. Probably why it’s listed in the nation’s top 4 credit repair businesses. They also offer a credit card modification plan and debt negotiation. And CJS is a big consumer rights advocate !

The other resource due to the mounting foreclosures, offers the three main elements to surviving a foreclosure. Named One Caboodle, they offer a HomePack package that includes education, the necessary forensic audit by attorneys, a selection of foreclosure defense attorneys and a money management software to maximize throughout the process, the monies you do have while not making full house payments.

Spectrum Resources feels strongly that ‘OPTIONS’ is the key to making changes. We continually research resources to offer our clients more options. There is a criteria we look to, but only time can build trust. After 7 years, we know the emotional strain on individuals and families facing credit, debt and home ownership issues, the reason why we select our resources with care, because foremost our goal is to serve our client’s needs.

Spectrum Resources (863) 967-0660  Email: SpectrumResources@tampabay.rr.com
Please visit all our blogs:
http://MoneySavingTIps.PolkVoice.com  with over 15,000 readers
http://SpectrumResources.wordpress.com  and
http://FinancialEducationAndOptions.blogspot.com  and our newest
http://WomanToWomanMagazine.ning.com
Your tax exempt donation to our continuing education fund is always appreciated.
Please mail to: SRDC 2014 Brentwood Dr. Auburndale, FL. 33823

“That Nagging Question Returns” Lessons In Debt, Credit And Home Ownership

You may have noticed how many commercials online advertising free credit reports, and how to get out of debt. Identity Theft is the # 1 fraud complaint in American, reporting over 27.3 + million victims. It's also the fastest growing crime in America creating this tremendous need for awareness. As a designated ‘holiday’ celebrate by shreding all of your old financial and personal documents. This is not a “Hallmark” occasion, it’s declared a special day because consumers have become so complacent with their personal information. Here are some options that may be new to you.

Medical identity theft is growing in popularity. It’s not only very expensive to receive bills that someone else has run up, it is extremely dangerous. When other people use your medical history, the medical files are changed to match the thief’s medical history. The danger of course occurs when you experience an unexpected emergency, and become a patient. Your medical records which should show your blood type, allegories, physical aspects of your medical history, if stolen, will not match you.

You make a medical identity theft happy when you discard into the trash old medicine bottles without taking off the prescription labels. The paper sacks that pharmacies prints all your information on and puts your meds inside is usually thrown out in the trash too. Get into the habit of requesting a free report every four months from a different credit reporting bureau: Equifax, Trans Union and Experian. You can receive your free credit reports from http://www.annualcreditreport.com/ and monitor your history from this site also.

Spectrum Resources provides the services of Identity Theft Risk Management & Resolution Case Planning. The objective of a case planner is to reduce your risk of becoming a victim. First providing you with education of the many ways that thieves use to obtain your information. You also would receive expert prevention information and guidance clearly explained how to spot a scam, actions to protect yourself and how to minimize your risk on a daily basis. There are powerful, yet easy to use preventative tools that will prepare you to take immediate and decisive action at the first hint of trouble.

The average identity theft case takes 175 hours and many hundreds of dollars to resolve, serious cases can take longer. A case planner can save you significant time, money and frustration, and resolve your case and restore your good name quickly.

Spectrum Resources has the mission to help you learn how to live inside your income, even when you have other people attempting to steal from that income. Now is the time to cut losses or dead weight and focus on what works best ! At this point, you are probably muttering to yourself about your income being cut and the fact that it feels as if everything on your back is dead weight.

Take a deep breath, it’s really not all that bad. Sit down at the table and make a list of not only all your physical assets such as your house, your car, boat, motorcycle, time share / condo, retreat cottage in the mountains, etc. . Also write down your personal attributes, your assets as a individual, yes, now is the time to look at what you excel in. Evaluate yourself from an employer's perspective. You are not your job, you are a human who has special abilities that brings life to a job. You know your strengths, so write down your talents, and your skills, also a list of things that make you happy such as a hobby or special interest. Now is the time to maximize YOU ! What makes you unique ?

You may not see the qualities that others see, ask a friend who is always honest with you to help. Big corporations use committees, boards, and other resources to evaluate their possibilities. Then they put together a marketing strategy to maximize on the most profitable option. You can do the same. First research online to see what professions, or categories would fit your talents, skills and special interest or you can tap a vast resource as well. The local state employment office will provide a free assessment of your interest, abilities, and match the professions best to utilize your skills, abilities and interest. You will probably have to ask for an evaluation test to be done. But can even tell you the salary range, and the likely employers in your chosen area to call upon.

Take a hint from the big corporations, remove the stress by downsizing the non-essentials in your life, cut out the frills exploring new ways to entertain yourself on less money. The objective just like in business, is to get yourself to the point where you can concentrate on your greatest asset = you ! Now may be the time to go back to school and expand on your natural talents and interest, or to expand on your years of experience in a field you still enjoy. By concentrating on the solution, you will see the opportunities that have opened up to you. Remember when one door closes, another opens. Look for the openings that can bring positive changes in your life.

Spectrum Resources counsels in debt, credit and home ownership. You are told to pull all three of your credit reports a minimum of once a year. Since identity theft is the fastest growing crime in America, it wouldn’t hurt to pull it every six months, but you still need to understand what you are reading.

Even though the three main credit bureaus are different, they basically provide the same data but format it differently. In this lesson, to help you familiarize yourself with some common terms used by all three.

Identifying the kind of credit reported:
R=Revolving ( this is your credit cards )
I= Installment ( this is your house, car, furniture loans )
M=Mortgage
O=Other ( this could be personal loans, non-traditional credit)

Now the very important indicator of your timely payment habits is the one digit number:
1= Paid on time ( Excellent ! )
2= 30 Days Late
3= 60 Days Late
4= 90 Days Late
5= 120Days Late
8= Voluntary (Bad )
9= Charge Off / Loss ( VERY Bad )

History is reported on the individual, not couples. If the debt is in one name, the history is reported as ( B = Individual Borrower ) or it may show as ( S= Signer ) . IF the debt is in two names, both signed an agreement to pay then you will see it as ( J = Joint Account)

Another very important indicator is the ‘DLA’ = Date Of Last Activity. This is the last time you made a payment on the account. ‘OPENED’ = The date the account was opened originally, and ‘LAST REPORTED’ is when the creditor last reported activity to the credit bureau.

To raise your credit score is disputing any inaccurate information that you see, including the indicators shown here. The law governing the credit bureaus is basically is they can’t prove it, they have to remove it. Your home may have dropped in value like your neighbors, but it doesn’t have to look like it. IF you have found more time on your hands due to employment cut backs, take advantage of the time. Structure a “To Do List”, every home owner should have one of these stuck on the refrigerator even during the best of times.

You’ve probably heard your Granny say, “No matter how broke you become, you can always be clean.” Old wives tales do hold a bit of wisdom in them. The fact remains, clean, shiny and pretty is better than dirty, ugly and unwanted. If you are facing any kind of financial crises at all, you must protect your largest asset. If any equity is to be realized, more will come from your home looking good than neglected and dirty.

It’s called ‘ROI’=Return On Investment. You can experience in the worse of times a positive ROI in your home by taking little actions that can produce big reactions and
profitability. Increase the curb appeal on your home by removing outside clutter. Sweep the walks and driveway. Cut grass and trim out dead wood in trees and bushes. Pressure wash your shutters, window sashes, and trim. Put a fresh coat of paint on the front door and perhaps a shiny new kick plate at the bottom. Clean the light fixture of birds nest and cobwebs.

Next walk through your home. Really look at it as if you were to buy it today. The stained flooring, the soiled wall paper, chipped paint, hand prints on the cabinets, broken tiles, hardware loose, uneven and cluttered pictures or wall hangings and all waiting to be put your ‘To Do List”. The biggest challenge is eliminating clutter. If you can’t bring yourself to make all of those tiny decisions, call in your toughest friend and give the ‘OK’ to be strong for you. The point of this lesson is to maximize what you have in time, and assets. You will feel good about your ‘ROI’ while making your house a more comfortable home. The credit problems of recent years have been addressed in new regulations and rules in the coming C.A.R.D. Act (Credit, Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure Act) that will affect you. Aspects of credit will change under the new rules as of January 2010 including fees, credit reports, terms, minimum payment, who will and who won’t get credit and on what terms !

You can ignore changes or you can learn how to effectively and efficiently face the challenges, issues and toxic habits found inside yourself that keep you a hunted prey by the credit card companies. They feed on your ignorance. Yes, by law, you will receive notices and inserts in your billing envelope, however, they don’t include a magnifying glass for you to read the tiny and confusing language.

You can work with a trained counselor who stays abreast of the changes by staying plugged into the credit industry. You can learn what to do and most importantly, what not to do. Not to long ago, seeking advice of a debt counselor was seen as a ‘very personal problem’. Now it's seen as smart to seek out the advice of a trained credit risk assessment planner to help you make informed decisions. And who can see objectively your underlying issues preventing you from reaching your goals !

You can learn your consumer rights in the C.A.R. D. law and how to exercise them. There are good points such as the credit card companies must provide at least 45 days notice of interest rate increases on future purchases. And your existing balances will generally be protected from interest rate increases. IF the interest rate goes up because you have not made the minimum payment within 60 days after the due date, the rate must go back to the original LOWER rate IF you make on-time minimum payments for six months. They will count on you NOT keeping count of your on-time payments.

To help those who have not figured out how to live INSIDE their income, the C.A.R.D. Act will require issuers to review your ability to pay BEFORE raising your rate limits or issuing you a new card. This will help those who can’t help themselves. The new law carries many new changes, however it is ultimately up to the consumer to understand what the terms are BEFORE agreeing to them, and most importantly, know how to live within those terms, seek professional advice.

Call Spectrum Resources (863) 967-0660 or email SpectrumResources@tampabay.rr.com and visit our blogs, they all have different bits of wisdom for your benefit. http://financialeducationandoptions.blogspot.com/ and http://moneysavingtips.polkvoice.com/ & http://spectrumresources.wordpress.com/ Help us help others with financial literacy. What I really found interesting is how by going through this family’s home they were able to turn their excess ‘stuff’ into over a $4000.00 treasure !

Hence, the title of this lesson, “One Man’s Trash Is Another’s Treasure” for each and everyone of us could hold a sale of household and personal items that we have purchased and no longer are using. We are surrounded by treasure and simply not accessing it.

They first went to their closet and thinned it out considerably. Next to the shoes and were told to select only five pair from the stack of many. After that they thinned out furniture, knick knacks, and decorative items that ‘cluttered’ the house from years of accumulation, gifts, and souvenirs. From there to the children’s room where floors were littered with an abundance of toys, corners were stacked with toys and collectibles they had out grown or lost interest. The kitchen had gadgets, odd collection of dishes and rarely used items. And the garage was stacked to the brim many unfinished projects, tools and saved ‘stuff’.

We are a society of ‘stuff’. Blessed, spoilt, over indulged, whatever words you wish to use. Most of us have money tied up in things that we no longer need, or want but because of whatever psychological reason we hold onto it. Few of us have the discipline to purchase and keep ONLY the necessities. The counselor helped the family organize with large bins. Things that were in excellent shape and perhaps unique such as clothing, jewelry, household items, tools, etc to be sold on eBay or Craig’s List. A bin for things to sold at a yard sale, used but still good and would sell such as furniture, decorative items, bikes, and everyday clothing. Then a bin for items to be donated which included ANYTHING left over after the yard sale. And last, the damaged or broken items that someone was going to fix someday, but that day never came.

$4000.00 was raised from inside their house to be put into an emergency fund. Not to be used as ‘found money’ for a dinner out, but to sustain the family during a period of emergency. My suggestion would be that you too look around the house at all the ‘treasures’ that you have stored that could be turned into money. Isn’t it better to sell things now while you have the leisure to do it out of want instead of need ? I promise you, having an emergency fund will bring you more emotional satisfaction than having a bulging closet, a over stacked garage, and a living room cluttered with years of collectibles. 470

Contact Spectrum Resources (863)967-0660 or email SpectrumResources@tampabay.rr.com to learn how you can live INSIDE your income. Helping your employees learn how to live within the paycheck you are providing can actually help your profitability.

Today’s economic situation has caused everyone to re-evaluate their priorities, to re-think their long term plans and sharpen the focus on daily living and the decisions provide secure passage through the month. More employees are looking to the employer to solve their problems. Now is the time to work together, bring real meaning to 'extended family' and the word 'team'. "Through Sharing We All Grow !"

Employers are beginning to realize that by investing more in the employee it does impact overall performance, and productivity and profits. Financial literacy in the workplace brings a very high ROI. The damaging effect WITHOUT personal money management skills in employees show:
· Absenteeism
· Tardiness
· Garnishee
· Diminished customer service levels
· Loss of revenue from sales not closed
· Increased risk taking
· Increased request for pay advancement / raises
· Theft
· Increased health care costs
· Employee turnover

Without financial literacy in the workplace, employees bring their frustrations into their work environment and it spreads like a virus. One in four Americans (30 million in all )are in serious financial distress according to a study done by Dr. Thomas Garman. This domino effects not only the employee, their co-workers, their family life, but also the employer.

It’s smart business to provide employees with education, resources, and options. This empowers them to make better decisions with less stress and less cost to the company. In addition to the regular education on investments, there is a need for daily money management in the workplace. Employers providing basic personal money management education have shown a return with $450 in positive job outcomes, $300 in lower health care cost, and those who are offering flexible benefits accounts might even realize an additional savings of $1,274.

Causes of financial stress is the workplace is seen in four main categories: the most common is life events and emergencies that deplete personal savings and the ability to generate sufficient income. The second is primarily skill-based and involves a lack of understanding about how to manage, save, and invest money wisely. Americans have not been taught basic money management skills. The third is psychological factors that include impulse buying and responding to advertising and marketing tactics. The fourth is income stagnation due to inflation-adjusted real income of the vast majority of workers. Actual take home pay hasn’t increased much since year 2000. Don't go crazy wondering WHY your credit score bounces like a ball. Your score will always go up and down as a reaction to your actions. Your credit score is a mathematical reflection of your daily money management decisions.

You get up in the morning, head out for work, stop for gas, pick up a sandwich for your lunch, drop by the dry cleaners, drive through at the pharmacy to pickup a prescription, drop your child off at the daycare and pay for this week's child care. All of these transactions just in the morning before you go to work. Once at the office you pay your personal bills; paying online and some by regular mail, again transactions that creates changes in your credit score.

Yes, your credit score is like a bouncing ball, each action is given a mathematical point that creates your score.! You can now see how fragile your credit score is, how easily it can drop, think of it as being liquid, ever changing, never permanent, and at the same time, understand the credit scores can be raised through certain actions as well.

A charge on a credit card, is an action equates to “activity” which triggers an alert in your history, and may lower your score. A FICO credit score could go down just because there are changes and those changes are NOT reported as an alert. Then it could go down just because there are multiple changes on the credit report in the same day, even though some of the changes are good.

As you can see satisfying the whims of the credit bureaus’ computer system is tricky. You could actually pay off a debt and lower your credit score at the same time. You never want to close an account and do want to keep all accounts active. If accounts are inactive then the creditors will close it and that really lowers your score.

A balance increase on any one of your accounts may lower a FICO score. Or maxing out a card, going over the debt to credit ratio limit, which is usually determined by any amount of debt over 40% of the credit limit. The lowered score can be raised by simply applying payment to reduce the debt back down, changing your debt to credit ratio, especially if you bring it under that 40% limit. Bottom line, credit is not carved in stone, and with professional guidance you can learn the skills to maintain your score from bouncing out of control.

Contact Spectrum Resources, (863) 967-0660, a seven year old organization dedicated to assisting people in learning how to live inside their income. As a parent, it is scary because you know many adults are having trouble maintaining credit worthiness. The good news is there are goal lines for the average fourth, eighth and twelfth grader that will tell you if your child have achieved the basic competency skills to ensure future success in managing money.

A fourth graders should know that credit is a basic financial tool. That using a credit card is borrowing money and you will pay more than if you purchased something with cash. And with credit comes trust, responsible borrowers repay as promised proving they are credit worthy and maybe able to borrow in the future.

An eighth grader should be able to compare cost and benefits especially when using credit. They should also realize that usually the longer the loan period, the smaller the payment, but the larger the debt, again because credit is involved.

Eight graders should know there are different kinds of credit sources and be aware of the functions of credit bureaus. Just like in school, debtors have a report card. But the most important lesson to get through is the consequences of their actions such as repossession and garnishment.

Twelfth graders of course should have surrounded the knowledge of a fourth and eighth grader, plus more. Twelfth graders should know of the entrapment and cost of leasing, and rent-to-own, contracts, terms and contracts. They should understand how making minimum payments increases cost, and to know credit card disclosures hold few points to their benefit. They should know there are always options, but to learn what questions to ask and understanding the differences prior to making a final decision. Also know that bankruptcy is the very last result and has serious negative consequences, plus carries a long term negativity result on credit history .

Twelfth graders are old enough to understand there are laws and regulations that offer specific protection for borrowers. And for self preservation and future growth, they really should learn what their rights are and how to effectively and efficiently exercise them.

Spectrum Resources offers individual and family counseling in debt, credit and home ownership issues that assist in making the grade easier. The government, controlled by those who have the most to spend is providing the golden parachutes to those who committed crimes against the American home owner. Yet consumers are left with only the new awareness of all the unsuspecting frauds, and the ability to exercise extreme caution. Financial literacy does pay !

Banks will not offer anything that will benefit you unless prompted, no matter how high your credit score. The best customers with clean credit ratings, ongoing relationship with the lender and adequate collateral still have to ask for the loan rate to be lowered by one-half to one percentage point. It is your financial life, it is up to you to be prepared to go in fighting for the best deal you can get. And you must be prepared with knowledge and options to negotiate any terms to your benefit.

When taking out a loan, tell the loan officer you don’t want ‘Credit Life and Disability Insurance’ on your loan. This insurance cover’s the bank’s interest – not yours. While not required, such insurance is often slipped into the loan, increasing its cost, without the customer knowing or understanding that it is a charge that can be refused. This added premium is then subject to hidden finance charges over the entire life of your loan. Check with your own personal insurance man for his opinion of what will cover your needs.

Bank’s marketing strategy is to collect as many fees as possible. Overdraft checking fees is their favorite! They will allow you to even over charge on your debit card, of course, you find out later when you receive the notice of the fee. Ask your bank to ‘red flag’ your account, usually a no cost service. With the account red flagged they should call you to notify of the overdraft. IF you can cover the overdraft that day, the bank normally waives any overdraft fees.

Shop and compare banking fees and options when considering opening up a checking account. One I found even charged you to close the account. Please be aware of the small print, ask and compare before signing anything.

Please contact your personal credit risk assessment planner at SPECTRUM RESOURCES to learn more ways to live inside your income. So I can only serve you appetizers covering a few topics at a time, leaving you hopefully with a taste on your pallet to learn more and return.

There are absolutely amazing ways to save money, and you can save money on everything, you must observe and ask !

If your air conditioning is eating up your energy bill and your budget, ask for a FREE energy audit from your local utilities company. Some even offer FREE energy saving gifts or coupons for greater savings when they come out to the house.

IF you own a business in the states of NY, NJ, DE, MD, CT, NH, ME, IL, DC, RI, MA, MI, and now PA then you will like the 10-35% savings from WHOLESALE INDEX RATES never before offered to small or mid size businesses. IF you are in Texas, then you will really like the 50% savings experienced by residential and commercial electric customers. Check out: http://NewAgePowerBrokers.com/Saves to learn more.

To save on your water bill, ask your utility company for a FREE water restricter for your shower. It saves thousands of gallons of water a year and saves you money.

Don’t throw away the subscription invitations. Most publications will send out a FREE issue of your favorite magazine then send you a bill. When it arrives, write “CANCEL’ on it, make a copy for your file and mail it back.

Watch manufacturers of food products for FREE cookbooks, utensils, etc. Many other manufacturers of products you enjoy or would like to learn more about offer free booklets as well.

Cell phone companies are always running specials. You sign up and the following week or month they run an even better deal and you feel stuck with the ‘old deal’. Contact them and ask the better plan especially if you are a person who consistently runs over your current allotment of minutes.

They say, “If the disease doesn’t kill you the hospital bill will !” . ALWAYS ask for a itemized bill because hospital bills are error-ridden with at least 30% of your bill with incorrect information. IF your insurance will not pay, dispute it, because the items they are refusing could be items that should not have been on the bill to start with.

Please contact your personal credit risk assessment planner SPECTRUM RESOURCES to learn more ways to live inside your income. Call 863-967-0660 No I am not referring to the regularly perceived ‘home based business’. I am referring to your HOME business. Few people realize your home business is just like a regular store front business. Your home must make a profit to keep it’s doors open. If homes were managed under the same basic business rules as a storefront business, there would be less foreclosures.

Your decisions regarding what, where and how you eat, eats away at your profit. When was the last time you figured the cost of all the drive through fast food meals, or restaurant meals during a 30 day period ? Or the cost of all the ‘carry outs’ simply because you didn’t feel like cooking ? Have you ever stopped and looked at your grocery ticket to see how many expensive frozen and pre-packed food items came into your kitchen instead of you preparing meals from scratch ? Big ticket profit eaters to look for on a grocery receipt are the over-priced non-food items because they were convenient ?

As the family business CEO, you have those things to consider plus many more if you are to keep the family home business secure. It’s all on your shoulders to educate yourself of money saving trends, to be flexible yet solid enough to handle all unexpected cost. You not only must meet current responsibilities like any business but you must also have money left over for future growth such as investments for college, new home, or that super big event coming up.

You have to figure out a budget that will take you through the slow season. Which in your home business might be a seasonal change in income or a seasonal change in expenses. The expense of school is a seasonal change. There is an additional outlay for new clothes, school supplies, fees, etc. Today, there are many employment cutbacks in hours, and benefits, some temporary, some permanent.

You also have to contend with seasonal expenses of taxes, insurance, car maintenance and even house maintenance. Things that rarely get written down on the budget sheet but occur every year such as yearly check up on the A/C, snow removal, and gutter or chimney cleaning. Your home business profitability depends upon how efficiently you plan for all of these seasonal expenses, plus all those that we don’t have on a regular schedule. Who planned on that trip to the emergency room ? Who planned on the terrible storm that hasn’t occurred for the past forty years but came through taking half of the roof off ?

A home business just like any store front business on Main Street, there must be a preventive maintenance plan in place. A family should have an emergency fund. Get with trained experienced counselors at Spectrum Resources to help you structure a personalized plan for your family business. You will be glad you did !
Call (863) 967-0660 or email: SpectrumResources@tampabay.rr.com Tax exempt donations to help us help others with financial literacy are always appreciated and can be mailed to: SRDC 2014 Brentwood Dr. Auburndale, FL. 33823 or use the online processor: www.Checkman.com/pay4it/1295 Remember to visit our other blogs for more lessons in attaining self sufficiency. http://MoneySavingTips.PolkVoice.com and http://SpectrumResources.wordpress.com and come back to http://FinancialEducationAndOptions.blogspot.com

"Skipping Is Not Child's Play Anymore"

'Skipping Is Not Child's Play Anymore' is a warning that banks and merchants are not inviting you to a game that you will win. You may receive offers often to let you 'skip' a payment for the holiday, or when school starts, or due to weather storms or other reasons. You are tricked into thinking they are doing you a favor - WRONG !

You may be enticed by offers to make large new purchases because you don't have to make a payment for twelve months or more. Skipping payments is a marketing lure. Buyer beware !

What creditors do is double dip on those sales. Once you sign a contract, the creditor sells the contract and collects money. Then in twelve months when your payments start, he collects money again - from you. That my friend, is what you call a super good sale ...for the merchant !

The payments aren't really skipped - full interest continue to run. So, in reality, the payment is just put off with interest added until the end of the loan. Even worse, lenders often impose a fee on those who use the skipped-payment option. The result is that the consumer pays extra interest plus a fee for doing so. Don't assume that any 'skip-a-payment' offer is a good deal without reading the fine print. Remember, "The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away !"

If you have made a large purchase and the payments don't start for 12 months, divide the amount due WITHOUT INTEREST by eleven. Make eleven monthly payments with NO INTEREST and by the twelth month your purchase is paid in full. Your purchase is paid for BEFORE interest charges start. That technique is much like lay-a-way, except you have the use of your purchased merchandise while making the payments. Interest is most of your debt and if you use this method you can purchase INTEREST FREE saving large amounts of money !

It's all about you using your money in the most efficient and profitable way, instead of allowing merchants to use it to their raise their profits. Keep in mind marketing gurus do not work overtime coming up with creative new strategies for the merchant to lose money. Like in contracts, 'He who makes the offer, offers the best deal for himself'.

Spectrum Resources' mission is to teach you how to live INSIDE your income. You MUST write and mail a certified letter with a receipt returned demanding that they do not telephone you again at whatever numbers you provide.

Second, know debt collectors by law, may not harass, oppress, or abuse you, or any third parties they contact regarding an ‘alleged’ debt.
· They may not use threats of violence or harm;
· publish a list of people who refuse to pay their debt, however they can provide this list to credit bureaus;
· use obscene or profane language; or
· repeatedly use the phone to ANNOY someone.

Third, you must know that by law, debt collectors may not lie when they are attempting to collect an ‘alleged’ debt. For example, they may not:
falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives
falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
misrepresent the amount you owe;
indicate that papers they send you are legal form if they are not;
indicate that papers they send to you are not legal forms if they are.
saying you will be arrested
falsely claim they’ll seize, garnish, attach or sell your property or wages unless they
§ are permitted by law and really intend to do so;
§ take legal action when it is illegal to do so;

and last threaten to take legal action when they don't intend to do so.

Spectrum Resources will share with you in coming lessons more of what debt collectors can and cannot do because in your daily living, crooks do not follow the law and it is up to you as a consumer to know your rights. How deep crooks can get into your pocket depends on your level of education pertaining to your consumer rights. You would have to agree both are messy when they burst ! Today's internet headlines are filled with news about "The Credit Bubble!" as if this is new news ! This is not news to debt and credit counselors who are in the trenches attempting to clean up the mess.

Credit card delinquencies rose from 5.52 percent to 6.6 percent (measured on a "percentage of dollars outstanding" basis). And people ask WHY ? Americans have created the biggest Credit Bubble of all time! Who is it that doesn't realize that American's have been on a spending spree since the early to mid 2000's ? Consumers thought that their ever rising home values would be there to bail them out IF they got in trouble. Well, they were wrong, and terribly misinformed.

You see, it's my opinion that the problem is more like a big snow ball rolling down a steep hill rather than a bubble. As everything in the form of money sticks to the snowball creating an even larger one as it heads down hill. Now we have slumping rents and rising vacancy rates that is playing havoc on the entire commercial real estate sector. The snowball has hit a wall called reality with pieces of these collected particals splattering out on everyone and everything in its path. Messy is a gentle word in comparison.

I see the credit card holders are victims of fraud. First, few know their consumer rights. Few know that National Banks are not allowed to lend credit. Few consumers realize how much our law makers turn their heads to the corruption of the banks. The lending industry actively egged consumers on into a web of false security just as much as policymakers at the Federal level who kept interest rates too low for too long. Virtually every corner of the credit market is connected to this snow ball growing in size !

Don't believe debt collectors who start pestering you about nonpayment of credit card debt from long ago. There are statutes of limitations in each state, after which debt my no longer be collected. Find out your state's rules at www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html.

Even if a debt collector offers you a discount for prompt payment, DO NOT agree to pay. Insist that the debt collector give you, in writing, the name and address of theoriginal debt holder, the account number, the date of the last transaction AND the amount of the original debt. You have a right to this information and cannot be required to pay what you no longer owe.

Spectrum Resource’s mission is to teach you how you can live inside your income. Your ability to think and consider your options and take action quickly can be the determining factor in the amount of your savings.

Here are some money saving tips:You now see empty store fronts while driving down Main Street due to companies that have filed bankruptcy or simply liquidated their assets and left for parts unknown.
1. Use your store gift cards fast while they are still worth something.
2. If the store holds a 'liquidation sale' skip the first few weeks of the sale. Wait until week four.

"He Who Hesitates Loses" warning also applies to identity theft.
1. You will be happy you took this warning if your wallet/purse is ever stolen. Make copies of all contents in your wallet front and back and record credit card phone numbers to report a loss. But if you have not, then look on the last statement and contact the credit card company as soon as possible. With identity theft, the sooner the better applies.
2. You should also report immediately to all three credit bureaus your cards have been stolen. this could be a savings of thousands of dollars.
3. You will also have to have a police report filed, again, timing in this particular process is important from your creditor's point of view.

"He Who Hesitates Loses" can apply to so many aspects of your daily living from the stock market to business opportunities. But our mission is to encourage you to think, learn your options and take action quickly because some savings just will not wait. There are expiration dates that you must heed to save. Most people would think that any investment that brought you a return of 20% was good, but in your local grocery are you taking advantage of the 10-20% savings offered through coupons ?

Coupon usage has become more popular as an effort to survive this depression. Coupons can easily save you 20% on your grocery bill. Groceries are not the only place to save with coupons. Filled with patriotism the cry was heard from coast to coast "Let Freedom Ring !" America has come a long way, as seen upon reflecting back. Also seen are many different cycles in our history . There are great debates going on regarding just how fiscally free the United States is at this point in time compared to our past. The cycles of spending, debt and rebuilding is not new in America. This article is not about America's debt, but your debt, and your personal freedom.

You also have a cycle in life going on. You started as a young person learning what money could do for you. If lucky, someone taught you how to make appropriate decisions in handling money. Sadly not many have been so lucky and they are in bondage, slaves to debt. Just as our forefathers took drastic measures to free themselves from the bondage of England, now is the time for each individual American to take drastic measures to become free. Slavery exist in every home in America where there is debt. You are not free to live by your choices when you are committed to a contractual agreement to pay for privileges and use of the many things that fills your environment.

You can break the chains that bind you to debt by taking a serious look at yourself, your priorities, and your personal values. You determine your self worth. If your self worth is about the amount of holdings that is tied to your ankle with a chain locked by a contract then perhaps you should re-evaluate your values. What do YOU really have, nothing ! The man holding the contract and who receives money from you has something, but you don't. Do a personal audit, for a reality check to which of your debts are based upon 'NEEDS' and which are based upon 'WANTS' .

Make the next 4th of July your celebration of personal financial freedom ! One that supports the real meaning our of nation's founders, for The People to be free. Our nation as a whole will take generations before it can celebrate fiscal freedom. However, you and your family can start today by making better decisions, structure a plan, putting more value on people than things. You can choose NOT to be a slave to a master that holds you down with a little 2"X3" plastic card. You can be financially free by seeking financial education and making better daily decisions because of your empowerment.

Our mission is to teach those who seek financial self sufficiency. We counsel to those with debt, credit and money issues.
